Yoonyen has been a labor of passion, a project born from a deep-seated love for creativity, and a tribute to the remarkable creative energy that resides within each of us. At the start of my career, I began crafting this magazine, then life’s twists and turns led me in a different direction, delaying its realization. Now 27 year later, I find myself in position to bring my vision to life.

As artists, designers, or craftspeople, we share an innate compulsion to create, an urge that emanates from deep within our souls. It’s a courageous act to present our innermost essence to the world. Amidst art shows, I sense a shared thread among fellow artisans—a union that binds us together, offering a sense of belonging and purpose. This union of creativity possesses a transformative power, capable of connecting hearts, inspiring minds, and shaping narratives.

That’s why I chose to name this publication Yoonyen, which is phonetically derived from “union.” Seeing the pages of Yoonyen come to life is a dream come true. I owe immense gratitude to the talented contributors, dedicated volunteers, and, most importantly, to you—the readers—who breathe life into these stories with your support and appreciation of our creative passions. I’m profoundly grateful for each person who has been part of this journey.

Each page was written by the artist themselves, so you are hearing from them in their own words. Every creative individual featured in this issue becomes a cherished member of our creative Yoonyen community, and I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. This is just the beginning of an incredible journey.
